[He should be... glad about this. HYDRA is gone, if not completely, then mostly. Maybe he's safer in the future, maybe he won't have to worry about them attempting to capture him again if they're struggling to rebuild or obliterated entirely.
But all he can feel is... empty. Disappointed, mostly in himself. He did nothing towards that like he initially wanted. He just hid away like a coward while Steve and his team did all the work.
His expression doesn't show any of the relief he should feeling, and the sound around them mutes just enough to block out all noise coming from outside. The effect will certainly be more noticeable when Steve speaks and finds his voice sounds like it's muffled.]
[At first, Steve didn't notice the negative reaction Bucky was having. He didn't think too much of the non-reaction he was having. Steve couldn't worry over every single face Bucky made... at least, he tried not to.]

[He stopped himself short. Why was his voice muffled? It wasn't him doing this, so was it Bucky? Steve sent him a worried expeession.]
[He opens his mouth but just shakes his head, silent for a few moments. When he finally says something, it sounds like cotton is stuffed in his ears, but he doesn't have any reaction to that.]
[Didn't do anything? Was he referring to the HYDRA bases? Steve didn't blame him for any of that... even though he would've liked to destroy them together. Just like they used to.
But things were never going to be the same again.]
It's okay, you had your reasons. [He wasn't sure exactly what they were, but they were probably good reasons. Being afraid of being recaptured was a good reason.]
[Some of the muffled atmosphere dissipates, but it remains enough to be noticeable.]
It's not okay. [None of this is. It's something he has to accept--and he does, that much is evident in his voice--but it's not something he likes, nor will he ever.]
Doubt you'd let yourself get captured. [Bucky was resourceful, that much had stayed the same. Even if he was... creative when it came to being resourceful nowadays.]
HYDRA wouldn't hesitate to use you against me either. [They already did after all...]
[HYDRA isn't going to get their hands on him again. But even as he says the words, there isn't much of the usual confidence behind the statement. He's just... tired.]
[It was difficult to really say what Bucky was doing in their future. He wish he could say, but that was what caused the whole argument in the first place.]
Let's just focus on the now. Dealing with the Arehtei is enough to worry about. [He placed a hand on Bucky's shoulder.] And I'm with you here.
[Bucky takes a slow breath through his nose before nodding. He does want to focus on this place while they're in it, but thinking about the future just makes it all seem less important.
He looks back up to Steve when he feels the hand on his shoulder, but he hesitates to respond for a moment.]
[He pauses for a second to think. Is there? To be honest, he can't be bothered to ask anything. It's not like it'll really make that much of a difference in the long run, so it's... better if he just lets the future be what it's going to be without knowing anything more about it.
He shakes his head.]
